It is a well-structured approach that differentiates, informs and really helps. However, most adult writing for children is actually too subtle and complex to offer a model that can be easily imitated.
We are taking it seriously as a whole school approach and already it has made a considerable difference. Poor children no longer sit and twiddle thumbs, staring into space, but are motivated and engaged and are achieving success. I have now completed all the courses.

As I said, I think this is about what the focus is - whether you want to focus on fluency in specific text types, one at a time as in the National Strategies approachor whether you want to jump between text types and focus instead on the features of good writing that are more transferable.
It has made an unbelievable difference. Children who only wrote odd words then wrote pages. The children love the approach — actions, drama, text maps and boxing up. In order to study extended narratives, then, in a way that provides examples of quality for children to imitate, would require two layers of example texts - the original story which, as Corbett says, is likely to be too sophisticated to use as a model in itselfand then a model text presumably written by the teacher which exemplifies the particular genre that is being written as a response.
Writing confidence is on the increase. All of my KS1 children have made good or outstanding progress.

Primary Writing Project The Primary Writing Project is a programme for implementing Talk for Writing across the school by providing support and training over a period of time. Using Pie Corbett’s process, children build up a bank of texts, both fiction and non-fiction which they learn orally.
They can then tell the stories fluently, can discuss and evaluate the stories, and they gain a bank of vocabulary from which they can utilise to create their own verbal texts.
